The manager was great at checking on me and made good conversation. My soy latte was also delicious, and served at the perfect temperature for drinking. Lemmon Poppy seed French toast was absolutely amazing, highly recommend. They didn’t seem to have awareness about who’s around them during conversation. For the majority of my meal, service was nice, but I overheard the servers using profanities. The service was good until I was midway through my meal, and I couldn’t get my servers attention, or anyone else for that matter. The place was clean, and I was greeted and seated promptly. Expect a long line! But don't worry, there are two stations to buy drinks while you wait. It was very crowded and they could use door monitors. It is worth going for the experience, but I wasn't blown away by the food at all. If I'm being honest, the price was too steep for what I'm looking for. The coleslaw was pretty typical, not too sweet nor too much sauce.

The Mac and cheese was good, not thick, but the sauce was tasty. On to the sides! The green beans were delicious! They have an amazing garlic flavor and were perfectly cooked. Not a lot of smoke flavor, so I was a little disappointed in that. The meat was super tender and had a good flavor. If you are expecting to be overwhelmed with the strong smell of delicious smoke that makes your mouth water as soon as you open the door. The dessert we had was mind blowing and I have to give a special shout-out to the wonderful bartender who listened to my husbands request for a super spicy drink. We ordered so much and completely stuffed ourselves because we just didn’t want to stop tasting everything. We heard from many staff that they’re like a family there and that is evident. Every person we interacted with was so fun and you could tell they enjoyed working there. We would ask him for recommendations and he wouldn’t be able to give us a front runner because everything was delicious. He told us that he works at Odd Duck because he ate there and was like yeah, I want to serve this.
The amazing server we had (Joe) was so passionate about his work and what he was serving. I went to Odd Duck with high expectations after hearing time and time again that it was the best restaurant in Austin and it did not disappoint!įirst, I have to talk about the staff.
